Speech Pathology has treatment programs for the following issues:

  • Adult Speech/Language and Cognition
  • Disfluent speech (stuttering)
  • Loss of voice

  • Swallowing Disorders (including electric stimulation)
  • Throat spasms
  • Voice restoration following total laryngectomy

Speech-language pathologists evaluate patients and develop treatment plans to promote maximum improvement.

The Voice and Swallowing Care Center provides specialized, advanced equipment for the evaluation of voice and swallowing disorders. Highly trained speech-language pathologists work with ear, nose and throat physicians (otolaryngologists) to perform evaluations such as:

  • Laryngeal videoendostroboscopy
  • FEES (fiber optic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing)
  • FEEST (FEES + sensory testing)
  • Evaluation of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease; heartburn)
  • Transnasal esophagoscopy
  • pH monitoring
  • Acoustic analyses of vocal function
  • Laryngeal function for patients undergoing phonosurgery
