Dr. Brietta K. Forbes is a board-certified, fellowship-trained pulmonary and critical care specialist with Menorah Pulmonary and Critical Care Consultants in Overland Park, Kan. She is affiliated with Menorah Medical Center. Over the course of her training, Dr. Forbes received numerous awards as an outstanding resident, compassionate caregiver, and instructor for medical students. After earning her BA in English and medical degree from the University of Oklahoma, she completed her residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Kansas. Her academic interests include general pulmonary and critical care medicine as well as literature in medicine. Dr. Forbes is a member of the American Thoracic Society, the American College of Chest Physicians, the Gold Humanism Honor Society, and the American College of Physicians.
Care Philosophy

The most important aspect of my job as a physician is to guide my patients through the path from distressing symptoms to a correct diagnosis and appropriate treatment. I always try to educate my patients so that they have the agency to play an active role in the medical decision-making process. I make every effort to promote evidence-based decisions that are individualized to the needs of each patient. I am constantly humbled by the challenges set forth in this field of medicine and am committed to upholding the trust and dignity of my patients
