Menorah Medical Center March 30, 2015
Charles Laird has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Menorah Medical Center. Menorah Medical Center is part of HCA Midwest Health, Kansas City’s leading healthcare provider. Laird replaces Steven D. Wilkinson, FACHE, Menorah Medical Center’s former Chief Executive Officer who retired earlier this year. Laird assumes his responsibilities of the award winning, full-service, acute-care hospital on May 4, 2015.
Since 2012, Laird has served as Chief Operating Officer of Clear Lake Regional Medical Center, also part of HCA, in Webster, Texas, serving southeast Houston. During his tenure, Laird led the hospital through construction of a $92 million expansion, developed a Level II Trauma program and a neuro-interventional stroke program. Laird also led the Clinical Excellence initiative that focused on quality improvement and helped Clear Lake Regional achieve status as one of Houston’s top performers for STEMI care.
Prior to his position at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center, Laird spent five years at West Houston Medical Center, also part of HCA, as Chief Operating Officer. He led the hospital through planning and construction phases of a $70 million expansion that included a new Women’s Center and Cardiac Tower. The hospital was one of two in the Houston metroplex to be recognized by The Joint Commission for quality excellence in CORE Measures. He also served for three years as Associate Administrator for HCA’s St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center in Round Rock, Texas.
“Charles is a respected and dynamic leader with extensive knowledge of designing and implementing strategic and innovative healthcare initiatives,” says M.L. Lagarde III, President, HCA Midwest Health. “His career reflects effective and impactful leadership, a tremendous asset as Menorah Medical Center continues to grow and serve the community’s well-being with comprehensive, high-quality and compassionate healthcare services. He will continue to build on the strong foundation Steve Wilkinson established during his decades of service and will lead one of Johnson County’s premier healthcare providers into the future.”
Laird received a masters of science in healthcare from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and he earned a bachelor of arts from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
“I am honored to join Menorah Medical Center,” Laird says. “It will be a privilege to work with the outstanding medical staff and dedicated leaders who make Menorah an extraordinary healthcare facility and an undisputed community asset committed to providing every patient with the highest level of care in an environment where people, compassion, and integrity are valued.”
